There has traditionally been ambient and world music on Sunday nights for the last 15-20 years through such programs as Continental Drift and Hybrid. Border Crossings attempts to keep the feel of these programs going, but broadening the scope as well. The music generally has its roots in the fusing of different musical influences – e.g. traditional Indian Classical with Flamenco, ancient sacred music of Hildegard von Bingen played with contemporary instruments etc. Examining the possibilities that have come through the true globalization of the music world.
Laid back sounds of world, jazz, ambient and electronic music from diverse influences. Very little spoken word (too late at night). Concentrate on achieving a consistent sound/feel. Occasional features on particular artists and/or labels
