by Adalita

Adalita's second solo album is a natural extension of, and progression from, her self-titled debut of 2010. All Day Venus is similarly personal, honest and vulnerable, allowing us to relate and connect to the diverse spectrum of feelings related to change, loss and shock. The different intensities of topics, experiences and images is also represented in the weight and power of the band. Even the sparser moments are delivered through heavy distortion pedals (Too Far Gone), and the heaviest moments (Annihilate Baby, Warm Like You, All Day Venus) really allow the band to get fierce.

All Day Venus also extends Adalita's creative control and music management, as she coordinated a new selection of bandmates (Dirty Three's Jim White, drummer Lee Parker, and bassist Matt Bailey as the core, plus guests), and wrote all music parts.

It's inevitable that we'll develop such a personal connection to such a personal album as this, as so many of a did with Adalita's debut. Already one of my favourite releases of the year.
