It's 10 years since we released the first So Frenchy, So Chic compilation. The unofficial soundtrack to the annual Alliance Francais French Film Festival has since grown into a cornerstone of the French music scene in Australia, offering a yearly 2CD entree to the best sounds from Paris and French-speaking artists from across the diaspora. Seamlessly weaving a diverse array of styles - hip-hop, electro pop, rock, country and folk - from performers both new and established, think of it as a series of postcards from the most colourful, energetic and innovative reaches of the musical realm. From the sombre croons of Bertrand Belin and the saccharine indie charm of Lilly Wood and the Prick to the charismatic flair of Fefe and the seductive lilt of Babz, there'll be some names you know, and others you'll be delighted to discover. As always, it's a journey of song that'll mellow you out, wake you up, get you tapping your toes and, finally, dancing around the living room.
