The masters of melodic darkness are back! Harmony have been around the local music scene for a while, playing at several festivals and gigging heaps around the traps but it’s always good to hear new recorded output. After impressing greatly with 2011’s debut, there was great anticipation regarding where they were going to go next but they haven’t disappointed with Carpetbombing. Once again, there is alot of light and shade in many of the tracks, giving listeners an aural experience filled with surprises! This is shown to great extent on tunes such as Diminishing Returns and Cut Myself Clean where you think the tune is going to be quite mellow but a loud explosion of noise creates unexpected shocks to the system! This is a good thing though and it makes the album an intense but never boring listen. If you’ve seen Harmony live, you won’t be disappointed as the album captures a live sound really well which isn’t always easy to do. The background vocals are also a highlight as they give the tunes an extra lift. All in all, an enthralling listen. It’ll be very interesting to see where Harmony head next!
