Discovered by Spencer P. Jones during an afternoon gig at The Spanish Club, Bitter Sweet Kicks have kicked their way out of the few remaining music venues in St Kilda, and getting banned from each one of them along the way, into mainstream festival slots across Europe, the Kicks have proven Melbourne’s fabled rock and roll swagger hasn’t died. A live show like no other, one that shows absolute commitment to the reasons people start bands in the first place.

They’ve been joined on stage by everyone from Spencer P Jones to Dimi Dero to members of The Gin Club. Toured Europe multiple times and released 2 E.P’s.

The Kick’s third studio album is due early in 2014, with a production team that includes Lindsay Gravina (Rowland S. Howard, Cosmic Psychos, Magic Dirt) and Andy McGee (Founder, Shock Records) Europe has been courting the Kicks heavily meaning the first half of 2014 may be one of the last chances to catch these boys in their hometown for quite a while.

Listen back to Sunglasses After Dark with Phil MacDougall, 8-10pm for a live set from Bittersweet Kicks.
