OXJAM, the month-long music festival that raises money to help fight poverty around the world, recently announced it would be venturing to the Land Down Under. Today, Oxfam Australia reveal the first wave of artists confirmed to perform at the jam-packed series of fund-raising parties taking place across the country throughout August. Oxfam have called in some favours from their buddies in the music industry to curate a series of OXJAM gigs to show the masses how it’s done and inspire a month full of ‘Gigs For Good’. The likes of I OH YOU have called in World’s End Press to kick off proceedings at their party, with Joyride laying down some sweet beats at One Day Sundays, and UNDR ctrl summoning Tear Council and Wordlife to celebrate their 1st birthday, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Hosting a string of parties across the country on August 6, Noisey have locked in Orion to play The Chippendale Hotel in Sydney, Pronto to play The Grace Darling in Melbourne and Thighmaster to play Trainspotters in Brisbane – ensuring that the joy and goodwill is spread nationwide. Stay tuned for their full line up announcement.

Independent record label and promoter, I OH YOU, will be flying the OXJAM flag down in Melbourne with dance-pop quartet World’s End Press, existential optimist Sunbeam Sound Machine, and soulful future RnB duo Fortunes repping the local scene at Shadow Electric on 15th August.

Oxfam have partnered with MTV Music + MTV Dance to kick off OXJAM in style with the official launch event, showing budding club promoters, venues and party-lovers how easy it is to throw your own Gig For Good! Taking place on 30th July, the inaugural event will see Cosmo’s Midnight and Set Mo gracing the decks at MTV HQ in Sydney - with more names to be added to the bill.

Following suit is Sydney-based music and touring agency UNDR ctrl, who will be throwing an epic 1st birthday bash at the beloved Oxford Art Factory on 1st August, raising cash in the process. Make sure to bring your party hats and dancing shoes - with a line up that reads like a roll call of UNDR ctrl’s stellar roster, featuring exclusive live performances from Tear Council, World Champion, Ara Koufax (Sydney debut), and Wordlife (premiering new material), plus DJ sets from the likes of Set Mo, Motorik and JAWZ with some very special guests to be announced - this birthday celebration is sure to go off.

Whereas the guys at niche music blog Purple Sneakers are teaming up with their club buddies around the country and are presenting parties for good across the East Coast and Adelaide. Cant Say in Melbourne, The TBC Club in Brisbane, Cats in Adelaide, and World Bar in Sydney will be hosting your Friday night plans for three weeks straight from the 14th onwards - with tastemaking lines ups featuring acts like Feki, Benson, Luke Million, Airwolf, Jesse Davidson, Gill Bates, Mike Metro, Boot Action, the LTM Crew and many others!

Meanwhile, the gang behind the Motorik record label will be bringing their finest techno A-game to The Spice Cellar in Sydney on 22nd August with support from Stereogamous, Francis Xavier, Made In Paris and more from the extended Motorik family set to make an appearance. Tech-yes.

Monthly party-for-a-cause institution, Heaps Gay, will takeover Goodgod Small Club with a dose of their flamboyant and swanky Heaps Good event on 28th August featuring Baby Face Thrilla, Cache One and Lakemba Ladies. Whereas Sydney hip hop collective One Day will be throwing another edition of their infamous One Day Sundays block parties at The Factory Theatre on 30th August. Known for their first class PM parties, this tight-knit crew will have their own residents Joyride, Adit and Raph on DJ duties, as well as a handful of special guests TBA.

A beautiful collaboration between Oxfam and MTV’s music channels MTV Music & MTV Dance, the nation-wide DIY music festival will also feature hundreds of locally organised music events raising money for Oxfam Australia. Whether you’re a venue, a seasoned party promoter or just a kind-hearted music lover who wants to get some friends together and charge entry in the name of poverty, anyone can take part as a Gig Maker and throw their own OXJAM party. Everything you need to organise your own OXJAM gig – from expert tips to DIY guides – will be available to you on the OXJAM website.

One in three people around the world live in poverty. Funds raised at OXJAM gigs go towards helping Oxfam fight poverty and injustice. Saving the world has never sounded so good.
