After releasing her second full length album Feral Fusion in August of 2018, through Blind Date Records, Freya travelled to the USA to record a set of songs at the famed Rancho de la Luna studio in Joshua Tree. With Lucinda Williams’ band Buick 6 and renowned guitarist Greg Leisz ably in tow, Freya approached recording her new songs differently, by eschewing that well-worn old timey aesthetic in favour of a cosmic, electric scratch, taking the country music idiom into relevancy for these complex and troubled modern times.

Myles O’Neil Shaw vividly remembers that Saturday morning four years ago:
“Musically speaking it was a simple set up with just Freya on guitar and Tom Brooks on pedal steel. But the sound achieved was magical. It highlighted the wonderful songwriting and singing talents that Freya has. Combined with the lonesome sound of the pedal steel, the performance was beguiling. I have replayed the odd song or two from this performance on my show now and then, but it will be wonderful to hear it in its entirety, from start to finish, once again.”
